VideoCraft Productions recently attended the NACE event at Xfinity Live, showcasing ‘The Percolators’ through videography. After the event, we interviewed guitarist Jann Glider for some exclusive insights.
Spotlight on Jann Glider: Crafting a Legacy in New Orleans Music
In a recent interview, I had the pleasure of speaking with Jann Glider, a talented guitarist and the driving force behind The Percolators New Orleans Style Party Band. Jann’s passion for music and his journey through different genres and performances offer a rich story of dedication, adaptability, and love for the craft—a story that resonates with many of us in the creative world.
Jann’s musical journey began at home. In his early years, Jann was exposed to jazz classics through his parent’s record collection and exposure to live music events where he had opportunities to hear some of the jazz greats. These early experiences ignited a love for complex rhythms, unique instrumentation, and soulful melodies that would inspire his music for years to come. Jann honed his skills through countless hours of practice and later took those talents on stage. He’s played in various bands over the years, evolving with each new genre he encountered and gaining recognition along the way. A highlight of his career came early when his band landed a gig opening for the Allman Brothers—a dream gig for any musician and an unforgettable moment in Jann’s journey.Today, Jann is the Music Director of The Percolators, a New Orleans-inspired band that brings together the spirit of jazz, rock, and blues. Known for dynamic performances at notable events like the Ann Francis Foundation and South Wayne Porch Fest, The Percolators deliver a unique blend of genres and stage presence, which consistently wins over audiences. Jann’s role goes beyond just playing the guitar; as the band’s leader, he’s responsible for setting the musical direction and managing the band’s performance schedule and growing reputation.
Our conversation quickly turned to the challenges facing musicians today, particularly when it comes to marketing in a digital age that’s constantly shifting. Like many artists, Jann recognizes the importance of building personal connections in an era where face-to-face interactions are increasingly rare. Social media is essential, but standing out online requires more than just posting regularly. It’s about crafting a narrative, engaging with fans authentically, and creating content that reflects the heart of the music.
Jann also mentioned a business mentoring program with Jared Judge in the Fulltime Music Academy that has been instrumental in helping him navigate the nuances of video production and online promotion. Through this program, he’s learned to communicate his brand more effectively and make meaningful connections with fans and potential clients. This mentorship has given Jann new tools to highlight The Percolators’ personality and style, building a stronger online presence that complements their in-person performances.
The interview wrapped up with a discussion about future collaborations, including potential partnerships to develop fresh strategies for online engagement. Jann and I share a vision of supporting artists through creative solutions that merge digital marketing with personal connection, and I’m excited about the possibilities of working together to amplify each other’s work.
Jan’s dedication to his art, combined with his drive to evolve as both a musician and a bandleader, makes him an inspiring figure in the music scene. His story is a reminder that the journey is just as important as the destination. Here’s to Jann and The Percolators—and to future collaborations that can bring even more people into the world of New Orleans-style music!
